Giovanna D’Orazio is a lawyer who graduated from Muhlenberg as a History major involved in Premed. Throughout college she volunteered at Lehigh Valley Medical center, shadowed a doctor back by home and volunteered with teen moms. She always planned on taking a year off in between Muhlenberg and Medical school causing her to take the MCATs her senior year instead of junior year like many other students. After graduating from Muhlenberg Giovanna helped out at her fathers law firm since that’s the only work experience she really had. That summer she started going on interviews for medical school but started to realize how strong her passion really was for law. After studying and taking the LSATs she went on to attend Albany Law School of Union University then went on to open her own law firm.
I find it very interesting how all through undergrad Giovanna wanted to be a doctor but after graduating realized her passion really wasn’t in the medical field but instead in law. That jump from medical to law must have been very scary since all of undergrad prepared her for one and not the other. This interview showed me that your plans in life are subjected to change and that it will be okay either way. The interview with Giovanna also showed me that the interests I have in both Premed and Prelaw are very common and normal.

Dr. Zina Gambacorta is a General Dentist that attended Muhlenberg as a Psychology major involved in Premed/ Pre-dental. Throughout school she was an RA on campus and shadowed a general dentist in Allentown. Dr. Gambacorta took her DAT her junior year of college and was excepted into many schools such as Columbia, NYU, Boston University, etc. Her dream was always to attend a school in Boston and at the time she wanted to go to the #1 dental school which was Tufts. When the letter still didn’t come from Tuft’s saying if she was in or not Dr. Gambacorta committed to Boston University paying the downpayment of $2,000. Once she paid the downpayment she was accepted into Tuft’s and ended up attending dental school there. To this day Dr. Gambacorta thanks her General Chemistry professor Dr. Smart.
Through my interview with Dr. Zina Gambacorta I was shown if you push yourself hard enough you can get to where you want to be. She explained the medical field more in depth and the things you wouldn’t see on the cover of it all. It was very surprising to me how she always wanted to go to Boston after growing up in Brooklyn. I also found it very ironic how after committing to Boston University was when she was accepted into Tuft’s. At the end of the day she helped me realize everything happens for a reason.
